Joanna Lee
Joanna's compositions have been shortlisted for a British Composer Award, featured in Premieres of the Year in Classical Music magazine and her recent and first chamber opera, developed in collaboration with Howard Skempton and Tête á Tête, received the Stephen Oliver Award.

Current projects include a piece for the London Symphony Orchestra as part of the Panufnik scheme (to follow Joanna's LSO blog) and a short opera for the Jerwood Opera Writing Programme at Aldeburgh. She also looks forward to a Composer-in-Residence post at Aldeburgh in 2011/2012, composing a choral piece for Aldeburgh Music Club to celebrate their 60th Anniversary and Britten's Centenary.

Performances of Joanna's works include Tête á Tête, Jane Manning, CHROMA, Omar Ebrahim, Psappha, Joby Burgess, Orchestra of the Swan, Sarah Leonard, Britten-Pears Orchestra, Elysian Quartet and Robin Michael. Her work has been performed at the Aldeburgh Festival, Tête á Tête Opera Festival, BMIC Cutting Edge Series and Ultraschall Festival in Berlin, and she has attended the Britten-Pears Contemporary Composition and Performance Course, tutored by Oliver Knussen, Colin Matthews and Magnus Lindberg.

Joanna works as music assistant to Paul Englishby, which has included the music for the Oscar-nominated film An Education, and projects for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Ronnie Scott’s and the BBC.
